Tone Abnormality

Expert management of hypertonia and hypotonia. We combine neuroscience with specialized therapies to strengthen your child's physical foundation.

Is it Strength or Tone?

The "preparation" of muscles for involuntary contraction is called muscle tone, which is controlled by the brain. At Udaan, we distinguish between temporary posture problems and neurological abnormalities to ensure the correct medical intervention.

Hypotonia (Low Tone)

Often called "ragdoll" posture. Muscles lack the passive tension needed to support joints and gravity.

Hypertonia (High Tone)

Characterized by spasticity or stiffness. Muscles stay contracted, making movement jerky or limited.

Our Specialized Care Pathway

Physiotherapy

Core-strengthening for low tone and progressive stretching for high tone spasticity management.

Orthotic Intervention

Selection of AFOs, SMOs, or specialized seating to prevent joint deformities and scoliosis.

Proprioceptive Input

Occupational therapy to help the brain better "feel" the body's position in space.

Medical Review

Consultation with pediatric neurologists to explore medical tone-management options.

The Importance of Early Intervention

Abnormal tone can put uneven pressure on growing bones, leading to hip displacement or spine curvature. Regular therapy focuses on maintaining bone alignment while the child's skeleton is still "plastic" and growing.
