Red Flags to Watch For:

By 18 Months:

Uses fewer than 5-10 functional words; does not point to show things of interest to parents.

By 2 Years:

Doesn't put two words together (e.g., "more juice"); speech is very difficult for even family members to understand.

By 3 Years:

Does not use full sentences; has significant trouble playing with or talking to other children.
